Tricks of the Trade - Here's everything you need to know to have a fantastic session:
Solid Colors Usually Work Best... Stripes and strong patterns are often distracting. Work with solid, complimentary tones and be consistent with everyone involved. This will require advanced planning!
Make sure all of your clothes look great from head to toe... Some of your images may be full-length so make sure clothes are ironed and shoes are clean. Short shorts and skirts don't photograph as well as they look in person. Avoid sleeveless tank tops and spaghetti straps - the camera can add weight...who wants that??
To cut or not to cut... There is no such thing as a 'trim' right before a session. Schedule haircuts about two weeks prior. (Same goes for color and highlights!)
Hands are often in the photographs... Make sure your hands are clean. Ladies, make sure your nails are ready. C'mon...who couldn't use an excuse for a manicure? No need to thank us.
If you shave, shave... That goes for faces and legs! We can't retouch stubble.
Keep the make-up and jewelry natural... If you wear make-up, don't do anything unusual for your portraits. Make-up and jewelry should be kept as you normally wear it.
As far as the weather is concerned... Lighting plays a paramount role in our portraiture. If you have scheduled a 'location lifestyle' or 'into the light' session, we insist that you be flexible. Sometimes it's not raining but it's just too overcast to provide us with the quality of light we want for your session. Our goal is to provide you with the best portraits possible; this may necessitate rescheduling if weather conditions are not perfect.
Additional Information Maternity photos are best done between 32 and 38 weeks of pregnancy. Your spouse, partner and/or children are welcome to be a part of some of the photos. What to wear is a personal choice and can be discusses when the session is booked. Newborns photos are best taken between birth and two weeks of age if possible. During this time they are sleepier and flexible so it is much easier to be creative and achieve the desired photos. Nude or diaper/cloth covered photos are also included. If possible it is recommending to book this session before the baby arrives, sessions can always be rebooked to accommodate your needs. Children photos may be a little wild but are so much fun because nothing ever goes as planned! Dress your child with clothes that fit their personality (hats, dress up clothes, etc.) Fun, bright and trendy is great for children. If your child has a favorite toy, blanket or stuffed animal this could also be fun for photographs. Family photos should be fun and capture candid shots as well as the traditional family portrait. Plain coordinating colors, solids and basic styles work best when photographing a number of people. Engagement photos can also be a great way to capture the personality of the couple with a variety of poses. Outdoor photos are always a great place to take engaged couple's pictures or my studio is great place for the timeless portrait. Wedding photos capture your special day and are keepsakes for years to come featuring everything from the wedding rings, to the brides dress to the couple's raw emotions. I offer a variety of wedding packages to fit your wedding needs. Along with wedding photos I can also design invitations, thank you cards, photo albums, canvas wraps and more. Should you need additional copies of your images I will be happy to order additional prints for you. Prices and images for all sessions are valid for 60 days from proof delivery. After that time period Lori Marie Photography is not obligated to keep unordered sessions on file.
